After the reorganization of the M. Kh. Dulati Taraz Regional University into two institutions — Taraz University and the Kazakh National University of Water Resources and Irrigation (KNUWRI), the Scientific Library of KNUWRI began operations in February 2025.
The Scientific Library serves as the core of the University's educational space, providing access to remote electronic full-text bibliographic resources, databases, and the electronic library.
The Scientific Library of KNUWRI is located in two academic campuses, covering a total area of 1,670 m², with 653.3 m² designated for reading rooms. The library has 5 service points (1 subscription, 4 reading rooms), organized by industry principles.
For the convenience of out-of-town students, a reading room is available in dormitory No. 6.11 with an evening service schedule and a collection of 3,154 items.
Additionally, the library collection and material-technical base have been divided.

The scientific collection of dissertations and author abstracts is 1,215 items. The University has subscribed to more than 30 specialized, scientific, popular science, literary, and other periodicals for 2025. The periodicals collection includes 156 titles, totaling 12,842 copies.
The collection of works by the university's faculty members amounts to 7,641 items, of which 3,261 are in the state language.
The level of comfort in accessing information is an important indicator of the library's effectiveness. To this end, the main reading room has three service zones: open access to the collection, an electronic reading room, and a relaxation area.
