​Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation

​NP JSC "Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation" is a new specialized research university in Kazakhstan, focusing on training specialists in water management, land reclamation, construction, and ecology.

​History of Establishment

​KazNUWMI was established in 2024 in accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 567 dated July 16, 2024, "On Certain Issues of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan." The university was created through the reorganization of M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University and its division into:

• NP ​JSC "M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz University"
• NP JSC "Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation"

​This decision was made following the President’s directive to restore a hydro-reclamation and construction university in Kazakhstan. KazNUWMI continues the traditions of the Jambul Hydro-Reclamation and Construction Institute, founded in 1962. For decades, this institute was a leading center for training engineering personnel in water management, reclamation, hydraulic engineering, construction, and energy. Its graduates have significantly contributed to the development of Kazakhstan's water resources, the design and operation of irrigation and hydraulic structures, and the construction of strategically important facilities.

​Preserving the best traditions of domestic engineering education, KazNUWMI actively integrates modern technologies and innovative approaches into the educational process. The university focuses on training specialists capable of effectively managing water resources and developing environmentally sustainable solutions.

​Educational and Scientific Directions

​As part of developing its scientific and educational base, KazNUWMI plans to provide comprehensive training for specialists in various water industry sectors:

• ​Water Sources – hydrologists, geologists, ecologists.
• Water Intakes – hydraulic engineers, water quality specialists.
• Water Pipelines – hydro-builders, hydraulic specialists.
• Reservoirs – hydrobiologists, hydro engineers.
• Water Treatment Facilities – technologists.
• Water Disposal – plumbing engineers.
• Water Usage – water supply specialists, economists, IT water management experts.

​New educational programs have been developed taking into account global experience and modern trends in the field of water management and irrigation.

​Licensing and Regulatory Framework

​Educational activities are carried out based on the University Charter and License No. KZ42LAA00036887 dated January 16, 2025, with annexes issued by the Republican State Institution "Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
