About the position
This vacancy is open to candidates across the full academic ladder — from Senior lecture to Professor level (or equivalent). Applicants are required to indicate a preferred title. The final position level will be confirmed by the University's Selection Committee based on the candidate's qualifications, publications, and experience.
Responsibilities
Teaching courses in the organization of construction production, the technical operation of buildings, the survey and diagnostics of structures, construction control, and cost estimation at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Developing and regularly updating course syllabi and instructional materials in line with the objectives and requirements of the educational programs in construction and the operation of buildings and structures.
Updating course content to reflect current approaches to facility management, asset management, smart building technologies, building systems operation, BIM, and the digital monitoring of buildings.
Supervising coursework, capstone and master's projects on building operation, technical surveys, reconstruction, smart buildings, and facility management.
Participating in the university's research and/or applied projects in building operation and reconstruction, digital monitoring, energy efficiency, and sustainable construction.
Requirements
Education Requirements
A higher and/or postgraduate degree and a PhD, candidate's or doctoral degree in construction or a related civil engineering field.
Candidates from adjacent fields may be considered if their dissertation topic, publications, courses taught, and professional experience relate to the construction, operation, survey, and management of buildings and structures.
Language Requirements
English language proficiency is desirable.
Experience
Academic and teaching experience in accordance with the requirements for academic teaching staff positions established by the university's internal regulations and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Key competencies
Core Professional Competencies
Knowledge of the organization and technology of construction production.
An understanding of the principles of technical building operation, repair planning, and ensuring reliability.
Experience in the survey and diagnostics of building structures.
An understanding of the fundamentals of cost estimation and construction control, sufficient for teaching the relevant subjects.
Knowledge of the construction codes and regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Additional Competencies
Facility management and asset management in the management of buildings and structures.
Smart building technologies, dispatch systems, BMS, IoT, and digital monitoring.
The use of BIM and digital-twin elements during the operation and reconstruction stages.
ESG approaches, energy efficiency, and construction/building data analytics.
