About the position

This vacancy is open to candidates across the full academic ladder — from Senior lecture to Professor level (or equivalent). Applicants are required to indicate a preferred title. The final position level will be confirmed by the University's Selection Committee based on the candidate's qualifications, publications, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate, master's and, where applicable, doctoral courses in hydrology of cold regions.
  • Developing and updating curricula and study programs related to snow, ice, permafrost, river runoff and associated climate risks.
  • Conducting research and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals; initiating and implementing research projects and grants.
  • Supervising master's and PhD students, building research groups and contributing to the development of a research school in hydrology of cold regions.
  • Participating in international research cooperation, academic networks and professional communities.
  • Contributing to the academic and administrative work of the EP and the University (committees, working groups, etc.).

Requirements

(according to the current internal regulations of KazNUWMI and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan)

  • PhD degree or equivalent in hydrology, water resources, geosciences, environmental sciences or a closely related field.
  • Proven academic and teaching experience in hydrology of cold regions.
  • A track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals relevant to the position (preferably indexed in international databases).
  • Experience in field studies, data analysis and/or hydrological modelling of snow, ice, permafrost and river runoff processes.
  • Experience in teaching relevant courses and supervising student research.
  • English language proficiency is desirable.

· Опыт участия в международных исследовательских проектах и грантах по гидрологии и водным ресурсам.

· Владение современными методами анализа данных и инструментами визуализации (Python, R, MATLAB и др.).
