Academic Faculty Position in History of Kazakhstan

About the position

The University invites applications for at least one full-time faculty position in History of Kazakhstan, with the possibility of teaching Cultural Studies in the second semester. Applicants should indicate their preferred rank: Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor (Docent), or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Teaching History of Kazakhstan at undergraduate level within the workload established by the academic unit and the University.
• Developing and updating the course syllabus in accordance with national education standards, qualification frameworks, and the University's internal regulations.
• Teaching Cultural Studies in the second semester, subject to confirmation of qualifications and workload approval.
• Participating in student development and career guidance activities and methodological meetings of the academic unit.

Requirements

• Higher education in History, History of Kazakhstan, or a related field.
• A PhD, Candidate of Sciences, or master's degree appropriate to the position level is desirable.
• Academic and teaching experience consistent with faculty requirements established by the University's internal regulations and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• Fluency in Kazakh and Russian.

Key competencies

• In-depth knowledge of the history of Kazakhstan and the ability to present material using contemporary methodological approaches.
• Proficiency in teaching humanities and readiness for interdisciplinary teaching of History of Kazakhstan and Cultural Studies.
• Skills in organizing independent student work and using interactive teaching methods.

Selection process

Document review, interview, and delivery of a demonstration class in the subject area.
