About the position

This vacancy is open to candidates across the full academic ladder — from Senior lecture to Professor level (or equivalent). Applicants are required to indicate a preferred title. The final position level will be confirmed by the University's Selection Committee based on the candidate's qualifications, publications, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in water supply, sanitation, pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment, and the operation of water supply and sanitation systems at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Developing and regularly updating course syllabi and instructional materials in line with the objectives and requirements of the educational programs in water supply and sanitation.
  • Updating course content to reflect current approaches to smart water systems, digital water utilities, water safety plans, international standards, and digital network modelling.
  • Supervising coursework, capstone and master's projects on the design, operation, digitalization, and safety of water supply and sanitation systems.
  • Participating in the university's research and/or applied projects and liaising with organizations in the water supply and sanitation sector.

Requirements

Education Requirements

  • A higher and/or postgraduate degree and an academic degree in water supply and sanitation, water management, engineering systems, or a related field.
  • Ability to translate these competencies into high‑quality teaching and student supervision at all levels of higher education

Experience Requirements

  • Academic and teaching experience consistent with the requirements for the position of Professor / Associate Professor established by the university's internal regulations and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in force.

Language Requirements

  • For teaching in the state and/or Russian language: fluency in the state and/or Russian language sufficient to conduct classes, engage in scholarly communication, and handle business correspondence.
  • For teaching in English: a confirmed level of English proficiency sufficient to conduct classes and carry out academic duties.

  • Knowledge of the design and operation of water supply and sanitation systems.
  • An understanding of hydraulic processes and the operation of water supply and sanitation networks and facilities.
  • Teaching skills in water supply and sanitation systems.

Additional Competencies

  • Smart water systems, IoT, sensors, and leak monitoring.
  • Digital water utilities: SCADA and digital networks.
  • Water Safety Plans under the WHO standard.
  • ISO 24510/24511/24512.
  • Digital network modelling, including EPANET and WaterGEMS.
