School description

The Academic Library of KazNUWME is the information and intellectual hub of the University. We are developing it as a modern space — from electronic resources and databases to an E-library. We are looking for a person to lead this process.

About the position

To develop the university library into a modern digital resource centre — with a relevant collection, user-friendly services, and a clear vision for the future.

Responsibilities

  • Developing the library's strategy, including transition to digital formats and creation of an E-library.
  • Building and updating the collection in line with the University's educational programmes and research areas.
  • Developing electronic resources: connecting databases, organising remote access, implementing library information systems.
  • Leading the library team and supporting staff professional development.
  • Liaising with faculty and educational programme coordinators on library provision for the academic process.
  • Advising and supporting students and faculty, including international ones, in finding and using information resources.
  • Preparing reports and analytical materials for university management.

Requirements

  • Higher education in Library Science or Library and Information Studies.
  • At least 5 years of library experience, including process organisation or team leadership.
  • Understanding of modern trends: digital libraries, open access, digital collection management.
  • Experience working with electronic library systems.
  • Analytical thinking and user-oriented approach.
  • Fluent Kazakh and Russian.
  • English proficiency sufficient for communication with international students and faculty and for working with professional literature.

Advantages

  • Experience creating or transitioning a library to digital format.
  • Knowledge of international library standards.
  • Experience with Scopus, Web of Science or similar academic platforms.

Selection process

Stage 1 — Interview with the department head and the HR Department.

Stage 2 — Upon a positive outcome — interview with members of the competition committee.
