The School of Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence integrates advanced digital technologies with environmental and water sciences to improve monitoring, forecasting, and decision-making.

The School's mission is to harness satellite, geospatial, and AI technologies to address critical challenges in water management, natural resource allocation, and disaster risk reduction.

Key academic and research areas

• Satellite-based mapping and monitoring of surface and groundwater resources
• Machine learning and AI for flood, drought, and snowmelt prediction
• Development of AI-driven decision-support systems for water allocation and risk management
• Real-time geospatial analytics for emergency response and environmental monitoring
• Integration of digital twins, IoT, and cloud computing for smart water systems

• Lead academic programme development at the intersection of remote sensing, AI, and water sciences;
• Drive the School's research agenda in satellite monitoring, machine learning for hydrological forecasting, and AI-driven decision support;
• Build strategic partnerships with technology companies, space agencies, national research centres, and international digital innovation programmes;
• Recruit and support academic staff with expertise in data science, geoinformatics, and environmental AI;
• Ensure educational programmes are current, rigorous, and responsive to the evolving digital landscape;
• Manage the School's budget, infrastructure, and strategic planning;
• Represent the School in university governance and in external technology and research networks.

Талаптар

• Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in remote sensing, geoinformatics, computer science, or a related field;
• Strong academic and research record with expertise in AI applications, geospatial analytics, or environmental modeling;
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience in academia or applied research institutions;
• Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing platforms, machine learning tools, and data-driven water management systems;
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills;
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Kazakh and/or Russian is an advantage.
