About University

The Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation (KazNUWMI) is  a newly established specialized research university, founded in 2024 by the decision of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to restore the former hydromelioration and construction institute in Taraz. The university was formed as a result of the division of M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University.

KazNUWMI is the successor of the Zhambyl Hydromelioration and Construction Institute, founded in 1962. For decades, this institute served as a key educational center for training engineering professionals in water resources, land reclamation, construction, and energy. Its graduates have made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s infrastructure, including the design and operation of irrigation systems, hydraulic structures, and other strategic facilities in the water sector.

Building on the strong traditions of national engineering education, KazNUWMI actively integrates modern technologies and innovative approaches into its academic programs. The university is focused on preparing specialists capable of managing water resources effectively and developing environmentally sustainable solutions.

Licensing and Regulatory Framework

Educational activities are carried out based on the University Charter and License No. KZ42LAA00036887 dated January 16, 2025, with annexes issued by the Republican State Institution "Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
