Bachelor's degree

About the programme

Bachelor's degree programmes constitute the first level of higher education. At the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation, educational programmes are delivered in water management, irrigation, hydrology, ecology, construction, energy, natural resources and other fields that are in demand.

For applicants admitted after completing secondary school, the standard period of study is four years. For college graduates, the duration of study may be reduced depending on the educational programme and the number of disciplines eligible for credit transfer.

To be awarded the academic degree of Bachelor, a student must complete at least 240 academic credits. Instruction is provided in Kazakh, Russian and English. Certain educational programmes include elements of multilingual education.

The educational process is organised in full-time mode. Modern digital educational technologies are used in a number of disciplines. The academic year consists of two academic semesters. Each semester includes 15 weeks of instruction and an examination period. Students are granted winter and summer holidays.

During their studies, students undertake educational, industrial and professional internships. Students may develop an individual educational trajectory, choose elective disciplines, participate in research projects and work under the supervision of leading scholars and industry experts.

High-achieving students may take part in academic mobility programmes and study at leading universities in Kazakhstan and abroad. The University actively cooperates with higher education institutions in Hungary, China, Sweden and other countries.

At the final stage of study, students undergo final attestation. Graduates who have successfully completed the educational programme are awarded the academic degree of Bachelor. A Bachelor's degree entitles graduates to engage in professional activity and to continue their studies at the master's level.
