Master's degree

About the programme

A master's degree programme is the second level of postgraduate education and is designed to provide advanced professional and research-oriented training for specialists.

At the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation, master's degree programmes are offered in relevant fields related to water management, water resources and water use, hydrology, ecology, energy, construction, environmental studies, public administration and other priority areas.

Training is provided in two areas: the scientific and pedagogical master's programme, with a duration of two years, and the professional master's programme, with a duration of one year.

Instruction is delivered in Kazakh and Russian. Certain disciplines are taught in English. The educational process is organised as full-time study and combines theoretical training, research work, practical learning and professional internships.

Master's students may participate in the university's research projects, work in modern laboratories and research and engineering schools. The university is actively integrated into the international educational environment. Master's students have access to academic mobility programmes, international research internships, and double degree programmes implemented jointly with leading foreign universities.

At the final stage of study, a master's student defends a master's thesis. Graduates are awarded the academic degree of Master.
